Metroplex Rain Timeline

It still appears the heaviest rain will remain to the West of the I-35 corridor over the next few days. However, tonight and tomorrow rain chances will increase in the Metroplex with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder possible as a cold front pushes through our area.

There’s Our Cold Front

You can see our cold front pushing through the Great Plains. Denver who saw record highs – in the triple digits – is currently hovering in the 30’s. The front will stall tonight in our Northwestern Counties and will trigger rain and storms through tomorrow before it limps its way through the rest of North Texas by Thursday.

Although severe weather is not expected, an isolated strong storm capable of producing gusty winds will be possible along and east of I-35. Heavy rainfall may also lead to localized minor flooding thru 5 pm this afternoon….

For the North Atlantic Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Seventeen, located over the central tropical Atlantic, and on newly-developed Tropical Depression Eighteen, located a couple of hundred miles east of the Cabo Verde Islands. An area of low pressure located just southwest of Bermuda is producing disorganized showers and a few T-Storms. Some slow development of this system is possible during the next several days while it moves generally westward or west-northwestward. * Formation chance through 48 hours low 10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days low 30 percent. A tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa in a few days. Gradual development is anticipated once the system moves over water and a tropical depression could form late this week or over the weekend while the system moves generally westward across the eastern Atlantic. * Formation chance through 48 hours low near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days medium 40 percent.
