New Development in the Gulf?

Believe it or not there is a new area of interest in the Gulf of Mexico that is quite favorable for development. In fact it may become a tropical depression or even a tropical storm today. There was significant development with the system overnight based on satellite data. The National Hurricane Center has scrambled a hurricane hunter aircraft that is en route to investigate it further. The steering currents in the Gulf remain weak so this system will meander around with not a lot of movement over the next 24 hours.
