From William Cole: A Flash Flood Warning has been issued in the Texas Weather Tracker TV coverage area for Stephens County in North TX until 4:30 PM.

At 123 PM CDT, emergency management reported flooding due to thunderstorms producing heavy rain along Highway 180 near Breckenridge leading to some road closures in the area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain has fallen over the last hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Remember if you see water across a roadway do not drive through it. Turn Around Don’t Drown.

An area of moderate to at times heavy rain is moving through the Metroplex. Nothing severe but do watch for ponding on the roadways and low-lying areas that may become flooded.

The risk of any organized severe weather today and tonight is low. However, a few pulse severe storms are not impossible. The bigger concern especially tonight is heavy rain and localized flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for most of North Texas through Tuesday morning. Another 1.5″ – 3″ of rain is possible. The heaviest rain potential is tonight.

Widespread thunderstorms are expected today and tonight. Heavy rain may lead to instances of flash flooding across portions of North Texas, especially tonight. In addition, strong winds along the leading edge of the storms will be possible.

Flash Flood Watch for a portion of north central Texas, including the following areas, Collin, Comanche, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, Wise, and Young. From 7 AM CDT this morning through Tuesday morning Numerous showers and thunderstorms will produce periods of heavy rainfall today and tonight which may result in flash flooding. Rainfall amounts will average between 1.5 and 3 inches with some locally higher amounts. Flooding may occur in urban and poor drainage areas. Heavy rainfall may also cause flooding of creeks, streams and rivers.
