NEW TROPICAL DEPRESSION FORMS OFF THE COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA… …TROPICAL STORM WARNING ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA COAST
At 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Four was located near latitude 31.9 North, longitude 78.3 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of the tropical cyclone should make landfall along coast of South Carolina in the warning area later this evening.

Pea size hail and winds 40 to 50 mph will be possible with this storm. Locations impacted include… Alvord and Sunset. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Half inch hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms. Other storms along the Red River may also see half- inch hail and gusts up to 50 mph. From William Cole: At 131 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Lake Whitney State Park, or 14 miles northeast of Clifton. This storm was nearly stationary. Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm. Locations impacted include… Whitney and Lake Whitney State Park. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. If on or near Lake Whitney, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm. There have been reports of tropical funnel clouds associated with this thunderstorm. Althought these funnel clouds rarely touch the ground, if they do, they tend to be weaker than most tornadoes. &&
